Set in the year 2898 AD, the film unfolds in a dystopian world where the city of Kasi stands as the last bastion of civilization, overshadowed by the oppressive regime of Supreme Yaskin. The narrative follows Bhairava (Prabhas), a self-serving bounty hunter, who becomes entangled in a mission to capture SUM-80, also known as Sumathi (Deepika Padukone), a woman believed to be carrying the prophesied avatar of Lord Vishnu, Kalki. As Bhairava's journey progresses, he encounters Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan), a cursed immortal warrior from the Mahabharata, who seeks redemption by protecting Sumathi and her unborn child. The film delves into themes of destiny, redemption, and the eternal battle between good and evil.
